INFO- Haukur Snorrason photographer/guide
Hello !
My name is Haukur Snorrason and I am a professional photographer. I studied in
Reykjavik 1989 - 1992. Since then I have been working as a freelancer.
Due to Iceland's small market I have been involved in varied photography,
but living in Iceland it is hard not to become a landscape photograper
and I admit that I am one !
My Books – One of my greatest acheivements is a very successful book of photographs called Land of Light. This impressive book (with a foreword by the President of Iceland, Mr Olafur Ragnar Grimsson, and captions by geophysicist, Magnús Tumi Gudmundsson was published in late 1999 by Snerruutgafan.
In 2005 I completed another book about the Icelandic landscape and nature called Experience Iceland, which is available in English, French and Icelandic. Again the captions are by Magnús Tumi Gudmundsson, with a foreword by filmaker Ómar Ragnarsson, a living legend in Icelandic television and nature programmes. My books are available in bookstores in Iceland and can also be purchased at www.snerra.is
Location guide/photo guide /phototours.
Although professional photography is my main occupation, I regularly take on assignments as a location scout / coordinator for foreign photo and TV crews.
I run Iceland Photo Tours www.phototours.is where I offer tours and service to photographers from all over the world. I also work with a travel agency Isafold Travel www.isafoldtravel.is which organise tailormade excursion around Iceland and we make many tours together. I run a small guesthouse in south Iceland along with my wife Hadda which we often use during our tours www.hrifunesguesthouse.is
My Father, Snorri Snorrasson, a professional pilot and keen photographer since 1946, has managed to document the history of Icelandic aviation and other historical moments through photographs he has taken, purchased in the past or recovered from various scrapbooks and shoeboxes. See Gallery 111.
He has also dedicated himself to photographing the history of the Icelandic fishing fleet during the last 40 years, and these photographs can been viewed in Gallery 11.
